Terms and Conditions
Last updated: 6 October 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Autumn Term ("we", "us") for playing the game Autumn Term and using this website (together, the "Game"). By creating an account or playing, you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Game.
1. A work of fiction
Autumn Term is a game and a work of fiction and parody. Its schools, places, characters, events and organisations are invented or heavily fictionalised, even where they draw on real-world settings. Any resemblance to a real school, organisation, place or person is coincidental, and nothing in the Game is a statement about real people. The Game is not connected to, endorsed by or sponsored by any real school, club, company or individual, and no real school's name or crest is used or claimed.
2. Who can play
You must be at least 16, or at least 13 with the permission of a parent or guardian who agrees to these terms for you. The Game is not for children under 13. You must give us a real email address that you control and keep your details accurate.
3. Your account
- You sign in with a code we email to you. Keep your email account secure; do not share your codes or let anyone else use your account.
- One account per person. You are responsible for what happens on your account.
- Your handle is permanent once you choose it, so choose carefully. You can change your school, but only once a week and a limited number of times. A handle must not be offensive, hateful, sexual or misleading, must not impersonate anyone and should not be your real name or contain personal information. We may remove or change a handle that breaks these rules.
4. How to behave
You agree not to:
- cheat, use bots, scripts or exploits, or manipulate scores, leaderboards or the Game's systems;
- harass, abuse, threaten or impersonate other players, or share anyone's personal information;
- upload, send or display anything unlawful, hateful, sexual or harmful (including in feedback);
- attack, overload, probe or try to break into our systems, or access another person's account;
- copy, scrape, reverse engineer, decompile or extract the Game's code, art, sounds, maps or other content, except as the law allows;
- use the Game for commercial purposes, or to promote anything, without our written permission.
5. Playing with others
In Online mode other players can see your handle, school, character and where you are in the game world. We do not offer text chat. We may monitor play, and remove or restrict players, to keep the Game fair and safe. If someone breaks these terms, please tell us at team@autumnterm.com.
6. Our content and your licence
We own, or have licences for, the Game and everything in it: the software, characters, art, maps, music, sounds, text and names. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to play the Game for your own non-commercial enjoyment. All other rights are reserved. Some fonts and other materials belong to third parties and are used under their own licences.
7. Feedback and ideas
If you send us feedback or suggestions, you allow us to use them to improve the Game, without payment or credit to you.
8. In-game items, scores and progress
Items, relics, scores, rankings and progress have no cash value, are not your property and cannot be sold or traded. The Game is still being built, so we may change, rebalance or reset them, for example to fix a fault or add something new. The Game is free to play; if that ever changes, we will tell you first.
9. The Game changes and may be unavailable
We are continually developing the Game. We may add, change or remove features or content, take it offline for maintenance, or end it. We do not promise that it will always be available or free of faults, and we will try to give notice of major changes.
10. Suspending or ending your account
You can stop playing at any time and ask us to delete your account by emailing team@autumnterm.com. We may suspend or close an account, with or without notice, if you break these terms, put others or the Game at risk, or if the law requires.
11. Health and play
The Game has moving images, bright light effects and sound. Some people can feel discomfort, dizziness or, rarely, seizures with such effects. Stop playing if you feel unwell, take regular breaks, and speak to a doctor if you are concerned. Turn off the Effects setting in the pause menu if it helps. Please play where it is safe to do so, and never while walking, cycling or driving.
12. What we are and are not responsible for
The Game is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we do not give any promise (other than those the law says we cannot exclude) about its quality, availability or fitness for a particular purpose, and we are not liable for losses that were not a foreseeable result of our breach, for loss of progress, scores or virtual items, or for problems caused by your device, internet connection or other players. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or your rights as a consumer under the law that applies to you.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when the Game changes. We will change the date above and tell you in the Game if the change is important. If you keep playing after a change, you accept the updated terms.
14. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, and the courts of Ireland can hear disputes, but this does not take away any rights you have as a consumer to rely on the law, or to go to the courts, of the country where you live. If any part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.
